Initial inspections of the head showed some mold problems and the sole and drain were in definite need of some attention, but the extent of the problems, as they usually are with boats, were much more extensive that predicted. The Formica laminate covered much of the dry rot giving the illusion of not being too bad, but the laminate covering was just masking a much bigger problem. The laminate gave structure to the area were the wood was actually completely gone and molding, and the only thing holding it together was the laminate itself.
