bottom paint prep

The prep time on her bottom is taking a little more time than thought, but Captain Carey is doing it right, taking it all the way down, to get to the deep blisters that were just covered up by whom ever did her bottom last. Its so comforting to always know that it is always done correctly when the captain is finished. Just like everything he does. We are going with the black bottom. Bunkmate ;~)

The bigger pix

Well we are going to be keeping Simplicity for a while, maybe a year or three and get the things we will be needing to take us to the 'bigger pix' like bigger motor, a dingy 'that we will be naming heather marie' shade, anchors, hats, sailing gloves, and stuff like that. We are planning our vacations to go to the San Juan islands in Washington. We will be preparing her to head up in June, so we need to get her sail ready by then, We need to get her a slip, plans plotted, stocked, and ready to put in the water. Captain Carey needs to paint the bottom. We are thinking a red bottom would be cool cuz when we heel over you can see the water line better, but black won't show the paint peel as much though, but i still like the red idea. Our main vacation is in August, Captain Carey's birthday is on the 11'th, and we will be going to the latitudes and attitudes sailing party that weekend in Anacortes, Wa. Bunkmate

Never Question The Captain

So just to catch up, we are in the process of adjusting our lives, the end result will be to become full time cruisers, by approximately 2012ish. So far everything is working out as planned. And when simplicity came into our lives, she strengthened our dream. We have learned so much from her, not only has she taught us the techniques of sailing, she has reminded of me so many reasons why i married my captain. I know what he says is true and probably really important. Simplicity is 26' long, and 8' wide, and totally trailerable. We put her on Lost Creek Lake for the past two summers, and brought her home during the winter, and Captain Carey works on making the necessary improvements to prepare her for the salt water adventures in our near future, we are preparing to take our adventures to the Puget Sound area this summer. Plans are flying around here like crazy, the usual, Puget Sound, motors, working, keel, saving, water, sails, refrigeration, and not in any particular order, and what if we find the perfect step up boat in Texas, or San Diego, and how any of this is not totally out of the picture.
