Cruising Plans

While the goal is to reach a point in our cruising plans to not have too many plans, we do have some initial goals to reach that point. Once there we will go where the weather and winds take us. However we have been given the advice from cruisers that have gone through these same steps before us, to set a date and GO! Where is not nearly as important as getting out there. "Someday" will never happen if you let that be your time frame. So with that in mind our plans consist as follow;

  1. Get the boat payed off by 5/1/14!
  2. Work on refit of interior while paying off the boat. More labor than costs, so we can get alot of work done while putting every penny on the boat. Also so that we could live aboard while we finish the decks, rigging, bottom, and electrical projects.
  3. Summer 2014, move the boat to the work yard to strip, repair, and paint the decks, bottom, and mast.
  4. Move the boat from Napa to the Bay Area somewhere, to spend the fall and winter of 2014 sailing the bay and gain experience with the boat, and analyze the systems and sail plan to finish out the refit with the gear and repairs needed. √ Benicia
  5. For the early spring of 2016, make the necessary upgrades, add the appropriate gear and changes that we have decided on from our shake down analysis.
  6. Mid summer of 2016 should consist of moving back to the Bay Area somewhere to test the new systems and finish preparations for a fall departure to Mexico.
  7. August 11 2016! Cut the lines and start working our way down the California coast for a late October to early November jump over the border and down the coast of Baja Mexico.
  8. This is about where the plans end at this point. We will spend an undisclosed amount of time cruising Mexico, and then turn left through the Panama Canal, or right to the South Pacific, or ...
We will update and add plans as a kind of log as we reach that point.
